copyright 2010 Preparing Your Heart                                4 Seasons of the Soul Are you holding the book in your hand or in your heart?   Hebrews 4:1-4  Although God's promise still stands, his promise that all may enter his place of rest, we ought to tremble with fear because some of you may be on the verge of failing to get there after all. For this wonderful news, the message that God wants to save us has been given to us just as it was to those who lived in the time of Moses. But it didn't do them any good because they didn't believe it. They didn't mix it with faith. For only we who believe God can enter into his place of rest. He has said, "I have sworn in my anger that those who don't believe me will never get in", even though he has been ready and waiting for them since the world began. We know he is ready and waiting because it is written that God rested on the seventh day of creation, having finished all that he had planned to make. Prepare your heart for this thought:   Owning a bible won't save you. Reading and rereading it won't save you. You are saved through faith. You must believe what you are reading is the true word of God. When you read about the death and resurrection of God's only son Jesus Christ, do you really believe he died for you? If you don't, then the book your reading can't save you. Only your faith in the saving power of the blood of Jesus Christ can save you. God's promises are true, his words are real. It's up to you choose to believe them or not. His word says that he has been ready and waiting for you since the world began. But just because he is waiting does not mean that you are coming. God is a God of love, and his greatest love was to save us through the death of his Son on the cross. Yes.... he is the God of love, but don't think that his anger will not flow towards those who reject the love of his son. God wants to save you. But ......  Do you want to be saved?
